In German the words "Polynomfunktion" and "Ganzrationale Funktion" are synonyms. They both means functions where the independent variable is only raised to powers represented by natural numbers (including 0). Also independent variable must not appear in the denominator of a fraction or as an argument to roots, trig-functions or as power itself etc.
